I have 16 modules and each corresponds to system subsections. They all have their own prefix referencing their respective subsystem and outlinks to parent documents and inlinks from lower level hw and sw specs. When I need to generate a Word export or a Excel export its a pain since i have to export each one then copy/paste or merge them together in one way or another. Is there a function in DOORS or a way in DXL(either from forum or Kitchen scripts) to create a consolidation module or view showing all objects from all 16 modules that are within the same DOORS folder? Id like to keep their Object Identifiers and any trace columns in tact. All 16 modules have the same attributes and views. Thanks. bmohamed - Fri Nov 07 19:59:53 EST 2014 |
Re: Is there a way merge modules temporarily for export to Word or Excel? I did something like that ages ago. I copied the standard export DXL skript that I wanted to use and added a loop that found the modules I wanted to export data from and then 'just kept on' exporting to the same document...

/sekrbo I hadnt considered that idea. I looked into making it work now but i'm not strong in working with dxl from scratch. i looked at other examples to modify and had no luck getting it to work. In each module i have a view named 'ExcelExport' that I want to export to excel. Rather than 'merge' modules like my post suggested, I'm going for your idea of looping and exporting. Anything else you can suggest i'd appreciate. in the mean time, i'll keep looking for how to access views in formal modules within a folder then export the view i want. |
